MacFarland Middle School

Washington, DC

Originally constructed in 1923, this school building in the District’s Petworth neighborhood underwent a phased design-build renovation and modernization for use as a new middle school. The building had been used as a swing site to house students as their facilities were undergoing renovation.

Silman’s scope of work on this renovation included structural modifications necessary to facilitate all new mechanical services. There is a new library and media center in what was once the school’s boiler room.
